Vision of destruction: The beast unleashed

He stood there, staring at the carnage he had caused. his knuckles were raw and bleeding, but what drew his attention was the body lying on the floor not to far away. whoever it was was barely breathing, beaten beyond recognition.

Some whimpering drew his attention away from the brutality he had caused. he saw her, cowering in the corner, crying. The look in her eyes was one he had never seen before- fear. and she was afraid of him, what he had become. she had never seen him like this. he always came across as the nice guy who hardly ever got pissed off at anything. she knew he had unresolved issues and anger that he held inside of him, but never imagined it would manifest itself in this way.

Turning to the girl who had once been his friend, all he said was,'Go. Save yourself, get away from me as far as possible. it's for your own good.' With that, despite being emotionally shaken, she got up and left, still refusing to believe that her friend had turned into some kind of monster. As her footsteps faded into the distance, the boy dropped onto his knees, letting out a scream full of sadness and angst. he knew he had lost her forever, and after what she had seen, things would never be the same again between them.

'Why?' he asked himself. Why had he done it? all the guy did was provoke him. he could have held it inside, kept control over the beast, but he failed. he was afraid something like this would happen. he knew that one day the beast would strain against the chain so hard that it would break, and then...

he had gone beyond the point of no return. he remembered the girl crying out, calling him to stop. she had been pleading, with tears in her eyes, that he stopped hammering the guy. but by that time, it was too late. the beast had taken full control, and after he brushed her off, pounded the guy like there was no tomorrow. And suddenly, the beast just retreated into the shadows of his mind. leaving him with someone he had assaulted because of a mere taunt, and a friendship broken beyond repair.

he knew that at a time like this, he needed her, needed someone to hold on to, to be his anchor, to prevent the beast from taking him again, but there would be no one. and he knew it was true. there could be no one, because he wouldn't let anyone see what he could become. not ever. it wasn't something he wanted to put his friends through.
