Personal isn't the same as important. i wonder how true that is. can we use that phrase alone to help decide on what we should do in certain situations? (see previous post on 'what's the right thing to do') if we could, wouldn't that make things so much easier?

But it makes you wonder - when you say 'important', who deems whatever it is to be important? does important imply 'the greater good'? if so, then who gave us the power to decide what is 'the greater good'? are we even worthy to decide on such things?

i know it all looks very depressing - it's a very jaded outlook i admit. but there's this much i can say - i think there's (at least) a grain of truth in this. who has the power to decide? who has the right? i'm not going to pretend i know the answer to this question. because i don't. at all. i hope someone does, and if they do, please tell me.

But here's what i figure might be of some sense - ultimately, the decisions you make are your own. sometimes the lines between what's personal and what's important are blurred. at that instant when you're forced to make that call, you try your best in that situation (everything is pretty much half-chance anyway), going sometimes on instinct, other times advice (when available). Some decisions you regret(often on hindsight and discussion with others) -be they long or short term- and the main (and often hardest) thing is that you get yourself to move on after them. in my case although i believe that God has something planned out for me, it doesn't mean that i don't try to make the best of a crappy situation.

there's something i read somewhere - 'fall down 7 times, get up 8'. Don't give up, keep on going. with every failure, analyse, improve and move on. people say that failure is the greatest teacher (or something like that), but i've also heard that 'failure is the path of least persisitence'. and all that is a result of decisions.

is personal really not the same as important? i don't know. it depends on the situation i guess. sometimes the thing can be both personal and important. but the important thing is you make the call, and you learn to live with it.
