[transmission start]thoughts: it's only words....
There's lots of things to be said about words (or not said for that matter). they seem pretty harmless - i mean, what are words? a string of them don't make sense unless you put them in a particular order so that they make sense (voila! definition of a sentence). but sometimes when that happens - the right words in the right order, the results can well.... hurt.
Things you mean and don't say. Things you say and don't mean. They cut deep sometimes. it doesn't take much really - just 1 line says it all. sometimes it doesn't have to even be anything, because it's what you DIDN'T say is what hurts. some of the things you say or write you wish you could take back, wish you said something else, or that you should have said them in the first place. but opportunities come round only once every so often - and it's up to us to decide what we do with them.
That's why quarrels cause so much emotional hurt. because sometimes when you fight, you say things you regret. things that, at that period of time, you use like a weapon that can really hurt somebody, because emotional damage cuts deep. physical wounds heal, but emotional wounds take much more time, sometimes never really being healed at all - just hidden or suppressed, and reopened during another quarrel.
i'm really afraid of this. i've done it before, and it's not nice (i'm sure you've been on either end of it too, so you know what i mean). It can turn friends into enemies, break up friendships, or at least change them from what they used to be.... and even if the wounds do heal, it never really ever is quite the same, because the way you look at the person is no longer what it used to be.
so choose your words carefully. don't say or write things you'd later regret. because sometimes, by the time you regret, it's too late.
till next time...
