thoughts: if i could turn back the hands of time...

Went to watch 'Man on Fire' today with my friends from school, Gene and Deborah. cool show, though a little gory, a little vulgar, but realistic.... very realistic.

there was this 1 line (more of a question actually)... 'Do you think God'll ever forgive us for what we did?' (the 'us' here refers to characters played by Denzel Washington and Christopher Walken who used to be hitmen)... which brings me to the main point of this post...

if you could live life all over again, would you keep things the way they were? change certain landmark events? do things differently? or would any of that matter at all?

life is full of the 'should-haves', 'could-haves' and all the other 'what might have beens'... everyone has their fair share of regrets, of choices they thought they made wrong. things they wish they could undo, words they said (or didn't say) in the hope that perhaps not making that 'wrong turn' in some area of your life would make life so much better than it is... or is all this really just some way to console ourselves?

we can't change the past, only the future... and as days go by, the future becomes the present, and eventually the past. and then you wonder why the whole of your life just seemed to pass you by.

you don't have to have a near-death experience to see your life flash before your eyes. just keep a diary (or a blog), and read it a few months from now. you'll see the choices you've made, whether they were the right ones and whether, if you really had the chance, you would do things differently. it's been said that a butterfly flapping its wings in China can cause a tornado in Texas (eventually)... essentially, the main point is that the little things add up... the choices we make in the here and now affect us in the future, insignificant as some of them may seem...

then it makes you wonder if you had the ability to either live life over again or to change certain things, how it would affect you... i guess you'll never really know, not because you can't, but because the possibilities are endless... but i guess you could take the view that everything happens for a reason, and it's all some part of a greater plan (if you're christian and believe God has a plan for your life of course)...

till next time...
