[transmission start]thoughts: V-day... what's it all about?
haha. yes. VALENTINE'S DAY. that one day in the year where all the singles (excluding those who couldn't care less) feel a little left out (i only speak for myself. and those i know) of the whole romance thing.
i guess it's no coincidence then that all the other blogs i've been reading are in regard to this (in some respect). they talk about stuff like getting attached (or rather NOT getting attached), and the 'so what's the whole deal with V-day... it's not THAT spectacular' points of view. i guess it hits even harder when CNY comes around and all those relatives start asking us singles the perrenial question of 'got boyfriend / girlfriend or not (delete accordingly)'... and it's often met with the 'erm's and straight out 'no's... and various attempts to evade the next dreaded question of 'why'.
so do i sound bitter that i'm single? frankly i don't give a sh*t (well actually i do. but that's complicated). for me a big problem is reconciliation. between wanting to be in a relationship vs readiness. to all of you who've heard it before, well... TOO BAD.
i guess everyone at some point or other wants to be in a relationship. basically that's the way we're made. but the one thing that stops me is that i'm not ready. 'Whaddya mean by ready?' some may ask... put it this way: in relationships there are certain basic expectations. and i mean BASIC. and i don't fulfil them. not that i don't want to (well, maybe for some that isn't quite true), but for others, i just don't quite measure up. you know how they say that some guys think they're too good for some girls (ie. they think they're God's gift to women)? well, i think (and i'm sure some other guys MIGHT think the same way) that i'm NOT GOOD ENOUGH for the girl. sure it sounds like i suffer from inferiority complex and it's been said that gals don't really like self-depreciating guys, but that's how it is. but enough about that.
well, to all those couples out there (and the romantics)... happy valentine's day. if you really cared, valentine's day would be everyday. just that you'd throw in something a little extra special.
till next time...
